Computer Stop
While Computer Stop offers a number of quality, pre-built computer
systems for the home and office, many of their customers prefer to
design their own, custom system. Alki Technology's Custom System
Configurator enables Computer Stop to allow customers the ability to
configure their own systems on the CS website.
The Custom System Configurator allows a customer to choose system components
while seeing the price update in real time, without making another server
request. This saves Computer Stop's customers time while freeing up
CS staff and server resources.
Step 1
First, a user chooses the brand of processor upon which the system will be based.

Step 2
The user then chooses each system component. As the user does so, the price updates at the top and bottom of the page.

Step 3
Once a user is satisfied with his system, he clicks "Add to Cart" at which time each component is added to the user's shopping cart.

Project Notes:
For users whose browser does not support DHTML, the system configurator displays an update button which submits to the server to recalculate the price. This feature demonstrates that, while we take advantage of newer technologies to enhance a user's experience, we don't neglect our legacy user base.
